Member Raises Funds for Breast Cancer

Debbie Jones is passionate about raising awareness about breast cancer. Debbie participated in her third breast cancer walk in three years on June 26-27. For her first two walks, Debbie participated in a Susan B. Komen three-day walk. This year she walked in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, a 40-mile journey from Keystone to Breckenridge, Colorado that took place over two days. The purpose of the walk is to raise money for breast cancer research, breast cancer education and for mammograms for women who cannot afford them.

“Breast cancer continues to affect far too many people,” Debbie said. “I feel the need to keep walking and doing everything I can to help put an end to it.”

Debbie participated in the Rocky Mountain walk with most of the funds staying in the area. Debbie raised $3,000 and over 2.6 million dollars were raised for the 2009 Rocky Mountain Walk.
